After the Carol Service on Saturday – many of those involved in helping, running, reading joined with many others involved with helping with the Festival for a £1000 Fund raising dinner. Thanks to our Chef Heidi Klampfer with lots of input from W Bro Gerald Sclater we had a sumptuous dinner which in combination with a 3 prize raffle raised the £1000 almost precisely. This was then enhanced by W Bro Sclater having sold calendars and diaries at the back of the Cathedral. So a big thank you to the generosity of the diners.
Then to our ( Festival Committee) delight V W Bro Nick Ball produced a cheque for £50,000 to hand to the Provincial Grand Master from the Benevolent Fund. What a fantastic day for Devon Freemasonry- a packed Cathedral with beautiful music and readings, a delicious dinner including Luxury Mincemeat Tart and then a total of £51K for the Festival.
The £1000 estimate for the MCF Fund Raising Dinner was exceeded to an overall figure of £1155.60.
A wonderful achievement thanks to the planning, organization and enthusiasm of Dr. Adrian Rogers (Festival Secretary) and W.Bro Gerald Sclater. The PGM was absolutely delighted with the outcome and gave his most grateful thanks.
And that does not mention the £140 raised from the Mince Pie and Wine gathering which took place at Gandy Street at 4pm many thanks to all concerned.
Great start to a Very Merry Christmas
